The man objective is the use of alternative methods to study the neurotoxicological action mechanisms of environmental pollutants. Human neural stem cell lines will be used in this work. These cells are the precursors of neurons and the glia, and can generate all the differentiated neural cells of the central nervous system, allowing the study of early stages of neuronal development and differentiation. In addition, they have the additional advantage of generating mixed cultures (neurons-glia) that allow the analysis of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions.

The effects of contaminants of interest on neuronal proliferation and differentiation will be identified, as well as the study of the mechanisms of action involved in neurotoxicity processes, using neuronal cultures and specific markers involved in neurodevelopmental disorders and / or neurodegenerative diseases. .
