Transformation and Metastasis Group
The Transformation and Metastasis Group is located at the CNIO (ISCIII Campus Norte) and belongs to the Molecular Oncology Program.
In the group, the TFM student will develop her/his project in any of our main research lines in the field of mammary gland development and breast cancer. In particular, we are interested in understanding the role of RANK signaling pathway in normal breast development and its contribution to tumour initiation, progression and metastasis.
For that purpose, we have developed complex genetically engineered mouse models that allow lineage-tracing studies, and we work with primary cell cultures (including 3D cultures) as well as human breast cancer cell lines.
Our final goal is to translate our basic research findings into relevant clinical results.
The TFM student will join one of these research lines in the laboratory:
- new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of triple negative breast cancer
- understanding the role of RANK-induced senescence in breast cancer
- Rank signaling in the context of tumor immune modulation
- dissecting the role of RANK signaling in mammary gland development
