Among the planned activities are the handling and maintenance of the Drosophila melanogaster, the production of genetic crosses between Drosophila lines, the selection of the appropriate genotypes and the analysis of the offspring. It would also be in charge of preparing the food used by flies as food to maintain stocks and to make genetic crosses, and the modifications required in the composition of the porridge, including food rich in fat or for caloric restriction, among others.
Scientifically the TFM will analyse the impact of food modifications in glioblastoma progression using Drosophila as a model.
Other tasks would be to dissect Drosophila neuromuscular junction, larval and adult brain, immunostaining for confocal microscopy and molecular biology protocols (Western-Blot, ImmunoPrecipitations, qPCRs).
