AlgaEnergy, a Spanish biotechnology company specialized in the research, production and commercialization of microalgae and products derived thereof, has welcomed our students to help them put in context what applied biotechnology means. For the third consecutive year, the company received our students in its Technological Platform for Experimentation with Microalgae (PTEM) located at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport. This event took place on the last 30th of October.

AlgaEnergy’s researchers and technicians not only showed the company’s facilities -both the photobioreactors, where the microalgae are grown, and the laboratories, where new developments take place - but also described and explained processes related to their methods, which allow to cultivate simultaneously various microalgae species to obtain different products.

The visit to this leading biotechnology-based company is always very interesting and enriching for our students, as they are able to see practical applications of their studies and their impact.

We would like to thank to AlgaEnergy and its human team for their hospitality and support.
