Subject of study. Pathology of the Respiratory Center: Sleep Apnea and Sudden Death Syndrome of Children.

Objective: To determine the neuronal mechanisms of Cheyne-Stokes periodic breathing


Methodology. i) Study subjects: Cx36-knockout mouse model and patients with Cheyne-Stokes breathing; ii) Records of cardiorespiratory parameters (ventilation, ECG, PO2, PtcCO2, pulse-to-pulse oximetry, EMG records of the respiratory motor pattern, and records of neuronal unit activity with optogenetics.
