DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER

The student will be engaged in a project aiming to define molecular, anatomical and functional alterations of neurons in an animal model of Alzheimer's disease and understand the cellular basis of the memory deficits in this disease.

In particular, he/she will focus on the great diversity of inhibitory neuronal types that controls the emergence of neuronal ensembles that store memory in our brains. Using two anatomically, genetic and functionally well defined inhibitory neuronal types (parvalbumin, PV and somatostatin, SOM interneurons) the results will help to define new therapeutic interventions against dementia
