Molecular characterisation and epidemiology of torovirus
Centro Nacional de Biotecnología CSIC (CNB)
DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER
We are interested in studying the interaction between viruses and the host innate immune response, and to characterize possible molecular mechanisms used by viruses to counteract the effect of IFN. We are currently working with two viral systems, toroviruses, ssRNA viruses that causes enteric infections in different species of domestic animals, and infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), that affect youn chickens, causing a drastic immunesuppression, or can even result in the death of the animal. Our work is aimed at understanding the molecular basis of torovirus and IBDV pathogenesis.
