Posttranslational modification of proteins

The work of the Masters’ Project will be devoted to the study of Type III intermediate filament proteins, mainly vimentin and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), their structure-function relationships, their interaction with other cytoskeletal structures and their involvement in physiology and pathophysiology. The work will involve the generation of mutants of these proteins, the study of their behavior in vitro and in cellular models, their impact on cell dynamics and their regulation by oxidative modifications.  The experimental approaches will include molecular and cellular biology techniques, protein chemistry, proteomics and structural approaches.
