Nuevas estrategias de control de patógenos relevantes en Sanidad Animal
Our research focuses on study the different parameters that drive the immune response against RNA viruses in order to design more rational and potent vaccines against these viruses. We initially started our research on Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) pathogenesis, although in the last years we have moved to bluetongue virus (BTV) and peste de petites ruminats virus (PPRV). All these three viruses are the causative agent of animal diseases that have in common to be classified as notifiable disease to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). Due to the high contagious of these pathogens, it is required to work in Bsl3 facilities.
To this end, we are using recombinant-defective human adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) to express antigenic proteins as a new vaccines strategy. In addition, we are interested in study the immune mechanisms induced in sheep by these viruses.
