DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER

The main goal of my research group is to investigate the key molecular mechanisms involved in fibrogenesis and to define novel mediators and therapeutics targets (the main aim of this TFM). Hypothesis: During injury, developmental genes are reexpressed (our candidate Gremlin) and could be key mediators of the fibrogenic process and potential therapeutic targets. In this project we will block Gremlin using pharmacological (inhibitors or neutralizing antibodies) o genetic approaches (gene silencing to targets/ molecular pathways) in different experimental models of vascular and renal injury and in vitro studies, to prevent fibrosis.
