DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER
Pre-treatments of park and garden waste (PGW) hydrochar to be used as soil amendment.
Commercial soils and obtained hydrochar (HC) from hydrothermal carbonization of park and garden waste (PGW) will be physic-chemically characterized. After that, different pre-treatments on the HC mainly washing (using acids) and thermal (microwave) will be carried out to determine the effect of adding raw and pretreated HC on soil properties and the effects on crops growth (germination rate, growth rate on dry and wet weight, foliar area, and evaluation of the photosynthetic system integrity by diverse biochemical methodologies).
To sum up, this study will focus on the evaluation of the effects of HC as soil amendment on the chemical and biological properties of soil and plants and would determine the best conditions for its application in terms of pretreatment and dosage.
