Functionalized Nanoparticles for Biological Applications
We offer a training position in our lab to work on a project that involves the use of nanomaterials as carriers of bioactive molecules. We work with nanoparticles made of different materials, such as gold, iron oxide, proteins, or polymers, which are modified with active molecules and ligands to provide more efficient therapies for various diseases, such as uveal melanoma, pancreatic cancer or Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.
Among the different bioactive molecules employed, we are very interested in the use of oligonucleotide derivatives, such as antisense, siRNAs, or microRNAs, in the regulation of genes involved in those diseases.
The student will participate in the preparation of nanomaterials, microRNAs, and their modification. However, the student’s main tasks will deal with the evaluation in cell culture of the different formulations using different techniques.
