DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER
Inflammatory factors released by immune cells upon bone injury can compromise osteogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells. We offer a TFM position to work on the paracrine crosstalk between osteoprogenitor cells and macrophages, key mediators of osseous wound healing. The student will evaluate in cell culture the influence of secreted factors by different macrophage phenotypes on the functionality of mesenchymal stem cells and primary osteoblasts obtained from trabecular bone explants aseptically collected from patients undergoing total knee replacement.
